KITTY KAMP — Objects for a Performance
KITTY KAMP (°1987, NL) lives and works in Brussels, www.cargocollective.com/ kittykamp
Predominantly working with video, Kitty Kamp draws upon the history of cinema, art and performance. With a keen interest in writing, she pursues a critical approach of her role as an artist and the situation of contemporary art. Moreover, she enjoys appropriating the absurdities of the world through various subjects of interest and uses techniques borrowed from popular culture. Her focus lies on the mystification that arises from demystification and processes of making.
For The Living Room XL Kitty Kamp created a performance including film, sound, installation and text. The lecture performance imitated the form of a demonstration, often used as presentation of new products on market places. In the same time it was a manual for the production of her artworks. Her text both read as comment on her own actions as well as an explanation.
